My name is Rachel Marie Harris. I am a mother and a retired ice cream chef originally from the Bay Area. You may have eaten my work at Mariannes Ice Cream or Polar Bear Ice Cream in Santa Cruz or Revival Ice Cream in Monterey.
This is my first body of work ever. And with no formal training, it was a true work in self discovery.
My ink and powder series was made in maniacal sobriety and is a stark stamp of time. Without any alcohol you have a lot of time.
The Landscape series is an adventure I’m taking in acrylic that I’ve never attempted before. Canvas, paints, brushes and technique can be intimidating. This is me trying hard to burn down my crippling inner critic and embrace imperfection.
I am so grateful to get the opportunity to share this ride! I have always been a maker and I’m going to continue to create in acrylic, glass, yarn, clay, beads, thread, fabric, oil, ceramic and whatever else decides to float into my universe. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
