Itzayana "Itza" Silva (she/ they) is a 1st generation visual artist from the South Bay (Unceded Ohlone Land). With familial roots in Mexico, her Abuelita and older cousin introduced her to acrylics, charcoals and pastels when she was a child. Itzayana's paintings highlight the dark and transformative energies surrounding life. Through observing lessons from our animal relatives as well as her culture, Itza has found inspiration in the duality of life and death as well as the evolving nature of creation. Itzayana is part of SOBA (Shades of Brown Alliance), a Gilroy-based collective that does events, murals and youth mentorship involving community and Chicano culture. She is currently a tattoo apprentice under Joey Castañeda and her art has been blooming into different media including engraving and sculpting.

Itzayana's works are slowly evolving into a more political stance. They believe voicing about our current state is important as an artist and most importantly human. Free Palestine, Congo & Sudan. Believe survivors and stop supporting abusers.
